Frequently asked
How much do uPVC windows cost in London?
Fitted uPVC windows in London cost £550–£1,200 per casement, £650–£1,400 per flush casement, £900–£1,800 per sash window, and £1,800–£4,500 per bay window as of Q2 2026. Prices include VAT, frame, glass, fitting, disposal, and FENSA self-certification. National firms typically charge 2–3x these prices.
What is the best uPVC window system in the UK?
Deceuninck 2500 and Heritage Chamfered are the best all-round uPVC systems for London installations — A+ energy rating, 1.2 W/m²K U-value, PAS 24 security, and 30+ colourways including Anthracite Grey and Chartwell Green. For period properties, Liniar Heritage Sash replicates traditional sliding sash sightlines.
Are uPVC windows secure?
Yes. All uPVC windows we fit meet PAS 24:2022 standard as a minimum with multi-point locking, internal beading, and laminated inner panes. Secured by Design police-preferred certification is available on request.
How long do uPVC windows last?
Modern uPVC windows last 25–30 years with minimal maintenance. Frames are UV-stable and carry 10-year colourfast guarantees on woodgrain foils. Sealed units carry a separate 15-year guarantee.
Can I get uPVC windows in colours other than white?
Yes. The Deceuninck Heritage Colour Collection offers 30+ colourways including Anthracite Grey, Chartwell Green, Black Brown, Irish Oak, Rosewood, and Classic Cream. Dual-colour (different inside/outside) is available at a 10–20% premium.
uPVC vs aluminium windows — which is better?
uPVC costs 50–80% less than aluminium for equivalent size and achieves slightly better U-values on casement windows (1.2 vs 1.4 W/m²K standard). Aluminium wins for slim sightlines (45mm vs 70mm), large spans (sliding doors, corner windows), and 30–40+ year lifespan vs 25–30 for uPVC.
Do I need planning permission for uPVC windows in London?
Most replacements fall under permitted development. Conservation areas with Article 4 directions (Bedford Park, Strawberry Hill, Richmond Green) require planning permission. Listed buildings always require listed building consent. Check with your Local Planning Authority before ordering.
Are uPVC windows A-rated?
All uPVC windows we fit are A-rated as standard. A+ rating is available on Deceuninck 2500 with Low-E coated glass and Argon gas fill. A++ (Kommerling O72 triple-glazed) reaches 0.85 W/m²K U-value.
How long does a uPVC window installation take?
A typical 8-window installation takes 1–2 days. Sash windows take slightly longer due to heritage box detailing (roughly 90–120 minutes per window). We handle FENSA self-certification on completion so no separate building control inspection is required.
Are FENSA-registered uPVC installers more expensive?
No. FENSA registration (we are Reg 40373) costs the installer about £250/year and doesn’t add to pricing. The benefit to you: every installation is self-certified for Building Regulations Part L compliance without a separate council inspection.
