Glass Corner

No post. No frame. Just glass.

A structural corner window joins two panes of glass at 90 degrees without any frame, mullion, or post between them. The panes meet along a hairline silicone joint, structurally bonded to carry the building load across the corner. Externally, the building appears to have no corner at all — the view wraps continuously from one elevation to the next.

It is the single most dramatic detail we fit. An entire room opens up to the garden, the sky, or the street, with nothing visually interrupting the view. The difference from a standard framed corner window is transformative.

An engineering detail.

The reason structural corner windows are rare is that they require the building to be designed around them. The load path over the corner has to be taken by a steel lintel or a cantilevered slab, rather than a structural column in the usual place. That typically involves architect, structural engineer, and glazier working together from the outline design stage.

We have fitted these on new builds across Hampstead, Richmond, and several Sussex country houses. If you are considering one, bring us in early — before the steelwork is specified, not after.

Two glazed panels structurally silicone‑bonded along a hairline corner joint. No intermediate post, mullion, or bead. Requires a steel lintel or RSJ above the corner opening to carry building load (coordinated with structural engineer). Compatible with double or triple glazed warm‑edge IGUs from 28mm up to 41.5mm thick. Laminated safety glass with structural interlayers as standard. Typical whole‑window U‑value 1.1–1.2 W/m²K with polyamide thermal break and Low‑E argon‑filled units. Typically fabricated in Cortizo Cor 70 structural frame with reinforced corner brackets.

Fixed corner window (most common), opening corner (one or both vents), floor‑to‑ceiling corner, corner combined with sliding door beneath. 90° standard, 135° and other angles by custom engineering. Advise architect involvement at outline design stage.
