Fixed Aluminium Glazing
(Scroll Down to Explore)
Glass as architecture.
A picture window is a fixed single pane of glass, framed as thinly as structurally possible. No opening mechanism, no mullions, no hardware — just glass. Used correctly, it becomes a framed view of the outside world: a garden, a city skyline, a tree, a horizon.
We fabricate picture windows using Cortizo’s structural aluminium frame, which can hold a single sheet of glass up to 4 metres wide and 500kg in weight. That is large enough to span an entire rear elevation of a standard London terrace without a single join. The effect is transformative.
Structural glass installation.
Because a picture window sits in a fixed structural frame, it has no opening sash to build around — so sightlines are the thinnest of any window we fit. 45mm frame visible from outside, typically less than 20mm from inside. On a rear extension, paired with a bifold or sliding door, it can be the quiet anchor of the whole elevation.
Specify it with solar control glass, low‑iron ultra‑clear glass, or heated glass for the very best performance. We handle the structural calculations, craning, and glazing in‑house.
