Nothing in the middle.

A French casement opens from both sides with no central mullion in the way. The “flying mullion” is built into one of the sashes , so when you throw them both open, you get a completely unobstructed opening, from cill to head, frame to frame. No vertical bar, no visual break.

That matters for two reasons. First, it satisfies Building Regulations Part B as a means of escape for habitable rooms on upper floors , which many standard casements struggle to do. Second, for garden‑facing rooms with a good view, it reads as a single sheet of glass rather than two.

Meets Part B. Looks like period.

Specified with monkey‑tail or pear‑drop handles and a deep cill, a French casement can replace a failed Victorian sash on a listed upper floor without looking like a compromise , and without falling foul of escape requirements.

Internally beaded, multi‑point shootbolt locking, hinge‑side security bolts. Secured by Design accredited as standard.
