There is no "Southfields Grid" or "Replingham Road" conservation area, and Magdalen Park is in Earlsfield rather than Southfields. None of the Southfields designations carries an Article 4 direction on windows.

Frequently asked about Southfields
Is there a Southfields conservation area?
Not under that name. The designations covering Southfields are Wimbledon Park Road, Sutherland Grove, Victoria Drive and, at the northern end, West Hill Road. "Southfields Grid" and "Replingham Road" are not conservation areas, and Magdalen Park is in Earlsfield.
Does an Article 4 direction apply in Southfields?
No. Wandsworth's Article 4 directions cover nine conservation areas - Putney Lower Common (Commondale), Dover House Estate, Heaver Estate, Latchmere Estate, Totterdown Fields, Roehampton Village (Medfield Street), Shaftesbury Park Estate, parts of Wandsworth Common, and Magdalen Park since February 2023. None of the Southfields areas is among them, so like-for-like replacement is normally permitted development.
What were the original windows on Wimbledon Park Road?
The appraisal describes them as timber casements with leaded top lights, typical of the Edwardian period. It also notes, unusually for a Wandsworth appraisal, that "if you wish to use upvc the result is much more authentic if the timber frame and original sill is retained".
What about Victoria Drive?
Wandsworth calls it "quintessential 1930's, inter-war comfortable suburbia. Large, detached family houses on wide plots", built between 1927 and 1939, and records that many were originally fitted with steel-framed windows. Slim aluminium reproduces those proportions far better than a standard casement.
What is the adopted policy?
Policy LP3, Historic Environment, in the Wandsworth Local Plan adopted 19 July 2023, supported by Policy LP1 on the design-led approach. The Historic Environment SPD of November 2016 remains the operative detailed guidance.
Southfields: designated but not restricted
Southfields is in the London Borough of Wandsworth, which has 46 conservation areas. Four cover SW18 Southfields, and none of them carries an Article 4 direction affecting windows.
That combination is worth understanding. Conservation area status means the council will assess appearance if an application does arise, and it removes some permitted development rights - but it does not by itself require permission for a like-for-like window on an unlisted house. Only an Article 4 direction does that, and Wandsworth's cover nine areas, several only in part.
What still applies is Policy LP3, Historic Environment, in the Local Plan adopted 19 July 2023, which resists non-original style windows and doors, and the Historic Environment SPD of November 2016, whose position is that slim-fit timber double glazed windows matching the original design are generally preferred to PVC-U replacements.

Wandsworth's recurring appraisal wording is that "uPVC windows usually fail to replicate original detail sufficiently and are not recommended". Not a ban, but the standard your specification will be measured against if an application does arise.
