Prices by system

Same opening, different system — fitted price varies by 30-100% depending on choice. APX20 Plus delivers the slimmest 20mm sightline at value-engineered cost. Cortizo Vision is the premium slimline with hidden track. Schüco ASE 60 RC is security-spec; ASE 80.HI is the flagship lift-and-slide.

Hidden floor track and threshold options

The threshold detail makes a big difference to look and accessibility. Three options on aluminium sliders, each with cost and wheelchair-accessibility implications.

What drives the price

Five variables move the final fitted price meaningfully. If you're comparing three quotes, make sure they all spec these the same way — otherwise you're not comparing like for like.

1. System tier +30–100%

Schüco ASE 80.HI runs 80-100% above APX20 Plus for the same configuration. The premium buys lower U-value (1.3 → 0.84 W/m²K), RC2 security, lift-and-slide operation, and oversize pane capability up to 3000×3000mm.

2. Hidden floor track +£600–£1,200

Concealed track for a flush threshold requires 70-90mm screed depth, coordinated with the screeder. Worth it for pram/wheelchair accessibility and minimalist aesthetic. Only Cortizo Vision and Schüco ASE 80.HI support it.

3. Glazing spec +15–30%

Triple glazing adds 20-25%, drops U-value to 0.9 W/m²K, adds 30-40% pane weight (matters for hinges and rollers). Acoustic laminated 40-42dB adds 10-15%. Solar control adds 5-8% on south-facing.

4. Structural opening +£1,500–£4,000

Standard concrete or steel lintel for a 4m opening: £1,500-£2,500. 6m+ opening with RSJ: £2,500-£4,000 plus structural engineer fees of £400-£800. Corner installations need column-free corner steelwork.

5. Building access +£500–£1,500

Scaffolding for first floor and above adds £500-£1,500. Crane lift for oversized panes (above 250kg) adds £600-£1,800. Side-return rear extensions on London terraces with no rear access cost more — frames may need to come through the house.

6. Motorisation +£2,500–£4,000

Schüco TipTronic motorised operation with smart-home integration adds £2,500-£4,000 including 230V spur, sensors and second-fix. Lift-and-slide hardware (Schüco ASE 80.HI) is a separate £1,500-£3,000 mechanical premium.

Frequently asked about sliding door cost

How much do sliding doors cost in London in 2026?

Fitted aluminium sliding doors in London cost £4,500–£7,500 for a 2-pane, £6,000–£10,800 for a 3-pane, £8,500–£12,500 for a 4-pane straight, £10,500–£14,000+ for a 4-pane corner, and £9,500–£13,500 for a 3-pane pocket configuration in 2026. Prices include VAT, frame, double glazing, fitting, disposal and FENSA self-certification.

What's the slimmest sliding door interlock available?

Cortizo Cor Vision and APX20 Plus both achieve a 20mm interlock — the slimmest in the UK as of 2026. Schüco ASE 60 RC sits at 30mm. Schüco ASE 80.HI is 35mm. Standard aluminium sliders use 50-60mm interlock; uPVC sliders are typically 100mm+. The interlock is the vertical bar where two panes meet — slimmer = more glass visible.

What's the difference between APX20 Plus and Cortizo Vision?

Both have 20mm interlocks and 1.3 W/m²K U-values. Cortizo Vision supports panes up to 3000mm tall at 320kg per pane, with a hidden floor track option. APX20 Plus tops out at 2700mm and 280kg, with no hidden track. APX20 Plus is typically 15-20% lower fitted cost. For projects under 2700mm tall the systems are functionally similar; above that, Cortizo Vision is the choice.

What does a hidden floor track add to the cost?

A hidden (flush) floor track — concealed in the floor screed for a level threshold — adds £600–£1,200 per opening. It requires coordination with the screeder and a 70-90mm screed depth. Worth it for accessibility, pram and wheelchair access, and minimalist aesthetic. Not worth retrofitting into existing solid floors. Only Cortizo Vision and Schüco ASE 80.HI support hidden tracks.

How wide can a sliding door be?

APX20 Plus 4-pane straight runs to 6m. Cortizo Vision 4-pane corner can do 4m × 4m structural corners. Schüco ASE 80.HI handles single panes up to 3000mm × 3000mm at 450kg per pane, supporting 6-8m straight runs. APX47 (45mm interlock, large-pane specialist) does 3500 × 1800mm panes at 400kg. Beyond ~7m straight runs, structural calculation is required for the floor and head.

Are sliding doors as secure as bifolds?

Yes. APX20 Plus, Cortizo Vision and Schüco ASE 60/80 all carry PAS 24:2022 with multi-point hook-bolt locking and laminated security glass. Schüco ASE 60 RC additionally meets RC2 (Resistance Class 2) per EN 1627 — the police-preferred Secured by Design standard. Insurance providers treat PAS 24 sliders as equivalent to a standard back door.

Sliding door vs bifold door — which is better?

Sliding doors give thinner sightlines (20–35mm interlock vs 90–120mm bifold meeting stiles) and a bigger glass-to-frame ratio when closed. Bifolds give near-100% wide opening when fully folded back. Choose sliding for the cleanest closed view and frequent partial-opening; choose bifold for indoor-outdoor living where you regularly fully open the entire span.

What's the U-value of slimline sliding doors?

Whole-door U-values: APX20 Plus 1.3 W/m²K with double glazing, 0.9 with triple. Cortizo Vision 1.3 W/m²K. Schüco ASE 60 RC 1.0 W/m²K. Schüco ASE 80.HI 0.84 W/m²K (Passivhaus-grade). All comfortably exceed Building Regulations Part L. The thermal break runs through the full frame depth — slimmer interlock doesn't compromise performance.
